One of the first pieces of legislation Lauren supported as a member of Congress was H.R. 1, the For The People Act, to reduce the role of money in politics, strengthen ethics rules to make certain that politicians actually serve the public interest, and improve access to the ballot box. As the only Illinois member on the House Committee on Education and Labor, Lauren has focused in particular on increasing transparency and accountability within the Department of Education under Secretary Betsy DeVos.
